Council has awarded over $27,000 to eight local organisations in the latest funding round of the Community Grants Programme.
Successful applicants include Southern Cross Western Horse Association Inc, Charters Towers Junior Cricket Association Inc, Charters Towers Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association and Towers Pastoral, Agricultural and Mining Association Inc who were amongst the not-for-profit organisations to receive funding.
Cr Sonia Bennetto said that the Community Grants Programme is a great avenue for local not-for-profit organisations to gain support for their organisations.
“The current Grant round will provide assistance for upcoming events, including the 2022 Charters Towers Show, Charters Towers NAIDOC Celebrations, Community Christmas Carols, Eisteddfod, Ranch Horse Show and Fit for Rural Futures Sports Camp.
“Funding will also be used to assist the Greenvale Country Club with facility improvements and the purchase of a food warmer for the Charters Towers Junior Cricket Association", said Cr Bennetto.
Council offers two separate Grant rounds each financial year; the first round in May and the second round in November, to assist not-for-profit community organisations to deliver activities/programs/services of an artistic, cultural, recreational, sporting or other community related pursuit.
Council encourages local not-for-profit groups and organisations to consider how Council may assist them with their projects, events and services and to look at applying in the next funding round.
Applications that demonstrate the greatest benefit to the Region will be considered favourably.
