Residents are encouraged to have their say on draft concept plans for the development of a new community, sport and scout facility at the Upper Beaconsfield Reserve.
The reserve is currently used for cricket, junior football, Auskick, pony club, adult riding club and scouts.
The draft concept plan is now available for public comment on Council’s online community engagement platform Creating Cardinia.
The draft concept plan includes:
Change rooms and amenities Umpires facilities Gym Timekeepers Sport office Canteen/kitchen Social space Associated storage Scout facilities including hall, venturers den, office, storage, kitchenCardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jeff Springfield said the upgrades were an important local community project.
“Local community sport means so much, and that’s why we need this development to deliver a better experience at Upper Beaconsfield Recreation Reserve for all of its users and visitors,” Cr Springfield said.
“This well used reserve is in real need of an upgrade, and the community will be keen to see this project underway.”
Upper Beaconsfield Reserve is Crown Land which is run by a community Committee of Management appointed by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
Cardinia Shire Council supplies funding to the Committee of Management for the maintenance of the reserve.
The Committee of Management will have the final approval of the concept however feedback from the community will help the committee make an informed decision to deliver a facility that is suitable for all members of the community.
Community consultation closes on Wednesday 29 June 2022.
