11 free things to do in Yass Valley this school holiday

Yass Valley Council is hosting a range of free activities to keep young people occupied these school holidays (4-15 July).

From workshops to movies, and taking a journey through Indigenous art and culture in a breathtaking new digital experience, there are a host of facilities and activities to keep the whole family occupied.

Here are just a few ideas to keep the young ones entertained this school holiday.

The Science of Bubbles

Don’t miss all the bubbletastic fun on offer this school holiday! The popular Poppy Bubble will deliver a super science show and invite everyone to make giant bubble wands at the end.

Movie - Abominable (PG)

Watch three friends embark on a quest to reunite a lost Yeti with his family. A beautifully animated movie that everyone will love.

Craft Workshop

Printmaking Workshop

Find a new purpose for potatoes from your kitchen in this NAIDOC-themed printmaking workshop. See how Ellen and Jess from Bandicute create handprinted garments and works using veggies on paper and even fabric.

PCYC – School Holiday Break

Visit the National Museum of Australia

Take a journey through Indigenous art and culture in ‘Connection’ - a breathtaking new digital experience in its world premiere at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra. Connection comes from the creators and producers of the most visited multi-sensory exhibition in the world, Van Gogh Alive.

Mosaic Workshop

Young people and their parents are invited to join mosaic artist Cayla Pothan in this hands-on and creative workshop. Together, you will design and build an indoor mosaic using the direct method. You’ll learn how to safely handle glass and build a mosaic to take home together. Jaffle and a drink are included.

Strange Objects Writing Workshop
