11 free things to do in Yass Valley this school holiday
Yass Valley Council is hosting a range of free activities to keep young people occupied these school holidays (4-15 July).
From workshops to movies, and taking a journey through Indigenous art and culture in a breathtaking new digital experience, there are a host of facilities and activities to keep the whole family occupied.

Works schedule – unsealed road program – 27 June-1 July (weather permitting)
Council appreciates the importance of maintaining the entire unsealed road network. Unfortunately, continual wet weather has hindered the delivery of our scheduled maintenance program being undertaken in a timely fashion.

The new Walker Park Grandstand will be officially opened on Saturday, 16 July to coincide with the home game. More info to come. Safety Around Schools:- Works are nearing completion at Yass Public School. Use of the dedicated bus lane has been going well. Internal works are continuing but are slightly behind due to the ongoing wet weather. Completion is on track for the first week of July.- Works have commenced on the children’s crossing on Rossi Street; this work will be completed in July. Fixing Local Roads:- Work is progressing well on Faulder Avenue, but has been affected by the wet weather. The project is now expected to finish mid-July.- Work is continuing on Morton Avenue and nearing completion after sealing was postponed due to recent rain. Works are nearing completion on the next segment of Wee Jasper Road, near Gums Lane, with some additional drainage work required on site. The road remains open, however, there may be short delays. Shingle Hill Way bridge replacement is making some headway. The contractors are continuing with bulk earthworks on-site while casting off the bridging components is underway off-site. Bango Bridge replacement detailed design work has been approved; on-site work is due to commence later in the year. Safety Upgrade works:- Works on Murrumbateman Road are all but complete.- The safety improvement works on Mulligans Flat Road have commenced and are going well.- The Nanima Road safety upgrade works have commenced and should be completed by July. The Heavy Patching Program for 2022 is nearly completed – works remaining on regional roads only. Tree removal works have commenced on Back Creek Road for stage one of the sealing works; traffic control will be in place for several weeks. Road rehabilitation works on Hillview Drive have commenced. The road is open, however, there may be short delays. This is expected to be completed in July.Development Applications
