Work to rehome stadium begins

Over the coming weeks, work will begin to dismantle and relocate the sports stadium from Yass Showground to private property.
Council conducted an extensive expression of interest process in April and subsequently received an offer from a Yass Valley local to rehome the structure.
The local has agreed to remove the structure at no cost to Council and assist with the clean-up.

The stadium was placed at the showground in the 1980s. While the building is owned by Council, the land is owned by Yass Show Society.
The building no longer fits Yass Show Society’s future requirements for the site and subsequently, an agreement was reached for Council to remove the building after the 2022 Yass Show.
Council continues to talk with the NSW Department of Education regarding community access to the new hall under construction at Yass High School.
