Council takes draft budget and CSP on the road

“Since our new council was formed, we have worked tirelessly on creating a vision and plan for the economic and social growth of our region,” Edward River Council Mayor Cr. Peta Betts said.

“We undertook months of community consultation to develop the plan and hope our vision will be shared and welcomed by the community.”

Cr. Betts said the focus of the draft Community Strategic Plan was to ‘grow to thrive’.

“We already know how much our region has to offer. We want to celebrate that whilst implementing a plan to see our population grow, to welcome new business, investment and infrastructure.

“We want to ensure our children have the best education available, including options to stay in the region to complete tertiary studies,” Cr. Betts said.

Council’s roadshow commences on Monday 06 June with informal sessions being held in Deniliquin and the villages.

“We want to invite all members of the community to drop in. We will have councillors and staff available to chat about the Plan and the budget and welcome all feedback and questions,” she said.

Refreshments will be available at each venue along with copies of the draft plan and budget.

“If you cannot make it to any of these sessions, copies of the Plan are also available at the Edward River Library, Napier Street, Deniliquin as well as on the council website at www.edwardriver.nsw.gov.au,” Cr. Betts said.
