Each year Alpine Shire Council joins forces with local vets to offer subsidised desexing for dogs and cats during the month of July.
Council is proud to be working with Alpine Animal Doctors and Ovens & Kiewa Veterinary Hospital to again support this national event.
Alpine Shire Mayor Sarah Nicholas said Desex Your Pet month helps raise community awareness of the importance of responsible pet ownership and supports community members to make the responsible choice.
“An essential part of being a responsible pet owner is to limit the number of unwanted puppies and kittens, by ensuring your pet is desexed,” she said.
“The best option to limit overpopulation is prevention.
“Desex Your Pet month is an annual initiative that supports local pet owners to receive a subsidy on the cost of desexing their cat or dog.
“Our local vets do a terrific job in supporting this important and humane cause.”
The first 80 Alpine Shire residents to desex their cat or dog at either vet will receive a $50 subsidy from Council.
“If you need to have your dog or cat desexed, this is a great opportunity to save some money - book in today with one of our two local vets to ensure you receive a subsidy,” Cr Nicholas said.
“This offer is available for all Alpine Shire residents, but only for pets registered with Alpine Shire Council.”
