Highfields photographer Judi Neumann’s determination to shake things up is partly the inspiration and the methodology behind her new exhibition, IMPRESSIONS, which is on display at Crows Nest Gallery until Sunday, July 24, 2022.
As a member of Brisbane’s Masters Apprentices Photographic Club, Judi regularly explores advanced photographic techniques and concepts that go beyond the traditional style of photography.
This association has refined her use of multiple exposures, creative post-production techniques and Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) in creating her work.
ICM is a technique which involves moving the camera as the image is taken.
Reducing the shutter speed produces a blurry image, which encourages the viewer to concentrate on line, form, shapes and colours.
“One of the reasons I have grown to love ICM is that it enables me to capture a landscape in a unique and personal way that cannot easily be reproduced,” Judi said.
“It can even breathe new life into overly familiar scenes, letting me see and capture something unique about a location that I may have photographed many times before.”
Judi lives and creates her works in the Highfields area, where she has been a practising artist for more than 25 years.
Residents are invited to discuss the exhibition with Judi from 11am on Sunday, July 10, 2022. This is a free event and no bookings are required.
