Regional Waste 2 Art Exhibition

6 July, 2022

The 2022 Regional Waste 2 Art Exhibition being hosted this year by Lithgow City Council, will showcase artworks from 12 councils across the NetWaste Region.

W2A is a community art exhibition & competition that challenges the way we look at waste!

Each council holds a local competition with the winning artworks then send to the Regional Exhibition which is hosted by a different Council each year. Lithgow Council has been involved in W2A for many years by coordinating regular local competitions, but this year is the first time that the Regional Exhibition has come to Lithgow.

Waste 2 Art invites aspiring and professional artists to create artworks from materials that would normally be thrown away, in the hope that we can raise awareness about the enormous challenges surrounding waste in our society and encourage us all to think about what we can do to try and reduce the amount of waste we create.

The Official Opening by the Mayor of Lithgow Councillor Maree Statham of the 2022 Regional Waste to Art Exhibition and Announcement of Winners will be held on Saturday 9 July at 10.30am at the Lithgow Union Theatre, 65 Bridge Street Lithgow.

This will be followed by a Public Exhibition of submitted works from 10 July to 7 August at the Union Theatre. Exhibition hours will be advertised later.

Primary school workshops will be held on Thursday 21 July from 12.30 – 3.00pm and Friday 22 July from 9.30 – 12 noon and 12.30 – 3.00pm.

A free full day Community Workshop will also be offered to community members on Saturday 23 July at the Union Theatre. The workshop will be facilitated by Amelia Batchelor who is a painter, sculptor & illustrator with a background in corporate graphic design & multimedia. She creates murals, 3D street art, runs workshops and creates props for movie sets and much more. If you would like more details or want to book in contact Sue on 0400 336 508 or at [email protected]
