Exciting changes coming to the Capella Cultural Centre

After 28 years of service by ‘Top of the Range Entertainment’ as the management at Capella Cultural Centre (CCC), the contract will end on 30 September 2022.
From 1 October, how council manages the centre will undergo a review process along with several other community buildings across the region to plan how they can be best utilised and what upgrades may be necessary to achieve the changes.
General Manager Communities, John McDougall, assures the community that the cultural centre will continue to operate past 30 September.
‘From October, the CCC will continue to operate until the review process is completed, and determines the best outcome for the management of the CCC into the future.
‘The facility will continue to function, apart from movie events, which due to costing, will cease from 1 October until the review has taken place.
‘This review will also help prioritise maintenance and upgrades to ensure the facilities will attract and appropriately accommodate shows and events.
‘During this time, the Capella council office will take care of local community bookings, with our facilities team managing all touring shows and larger-scale events,’ he said.
Councillor Sypher acknowledged the Capella arts and culture community and welcomed the facilities upcoming review process.
‘We all understand and appreciate the enormous benefits, arts and culture has on the wellbeing of our communities,’ she said
‘The Capella Cultural Centre (CCC) is the only accredited entertainment venue in our region, and with continued upgrades, the rating can be reviewed to attract signature performers into the future.
‘The entertainment venues strategy will provide recommendations on operational efficiencies and opportunities for all major venues across our region, not just CCC.
‘I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the Capella, ‘Friends of the Theatre’, a volunteer group who have contributed greatly over many years and of course, into the future, for their contribution to the success of the CCC,’ Cr Sypher said.
