Walker Park Sporting Complex Improvements opening Join us on Saturday, 16 July to celebrate the official opening of the Walker Park Complex Improvements. The celebration will also include the unveiling and official opening of the Ken Bell and Colin ‘Yic’ York Grandstand.

The $500,000 grant from Sport Australia Move It AUS Community Sport Infrastructure Grant, saw improvements made to pedestrian safety, parking options and sports amenities. Local user groups generously contributed $18,000 towards the project with Yass Valley Council contributing $50,000 to fund the remaining cost of the extensive upgrade.

Yass Mainstreet Masterplan Don’t miss us, Friday, 15 July! Come and tell us what you think about the Draft Main Street Masterplan for Yass.

Meet with the consultants who have developed the plan and sketches based on community feedback to date. The plan is evolving and growing, so we want to hear from you. Tell us about your thoughts on landscaping, car parking, street furniture and town entry signs.

Can’t make it on Friday? Don’t worry! There will be more opportunities to have your say on the plan throughout August.

News from Wendy Tuckerman MP Local organisations in the Goulburn electorate can now apply for funding to support local community projects thanks to the NSW Liberal Governments Clubgrants program, Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said today.

Mrs Tuckerman said Clubgrants allow local community groups to build or upgrade community facilities and a new round is now open, with applications welcome from not-for-profit organisations.

“$12.5 million is available this year for new or upgraded facilities across sport and recreation, arts and culture, disaster readiness and community infrastructure,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

Works schedule – unsealed road program – 11 July - 15 July (weather permitting) Council appreciates the importance of maintaining the entire unsealed road network. Unfortunately, continual wet weather has hindered the delivery of our scheduled maintenance program being undertaken in a timely fashion.

Safety Around Schools: Works are all but completed at Yass Public School with some line marking and signs to finalise the project! Work is completed at Gundaroo Public School Works are completed on the Grand Junction/Morton Avenue pathways project Works are all but completed on the children’s crossing on Rossi Street with some line marking and signs to finalise the project! Fixing Local Roads: Work is progressing well on Faulder Avenue, however, has been affected by the wet weather – expected completion within a couple of weeks. Work is all but completed on Morton Avenue Works are nearing completion on the next segment of Wee Jasper Road, near Gums Lane, with some additional drainage work required on site. The road remains open, however, there may be short delays. Murrumbateman Winery Trail is almost done! With some line marking, signage and safety works over the next couple of months Shingle Hill Way bridge replacement is making some headway. The contractors are continuing with bulk earthworks on-site and the first of the bridge beams being delivered this week! Bango Bridge replacement detailed design work has been approved; on-site work is due to commence later in the year. Safety Upgrade works: Works on Murrumbateman Road are complete. The safety improvement works on Mulligans Flat Road have commenced and are going well.  The Nanima Road safety upgrade works have commenced and should be completed by July. The Heavy Patching Program for 2022 is nearly complete – works remaining on Regional Roads only. Tree removal works have commenced on Back Creek Road for stage 1 of the sealing works - traffic control will be in place for several weeks. Road rehabilitation works on Hillview Drive have commenced. The road is open, however, there may be short delays. This is expected to be completed in July.
