PLANNED INTERRUPTION TO WATER SUPPLY – WATER MAIN AIR SCOURING PROGRAM

Council’s air scouring crew will be commencing scouring of water mains in the Chillagoe township from Monday, 18th July 2022 to Thursday, 21st July 2022 inclusive.

Water supply will be affected on the following dates and street locations.

Monday 18th July – Frew Street, Weir Road, Aerodrome Road and Hospital Avenue

Tuesday, 19th July – Cathedral Street (South), Hill Street, Market Street, Knowe Street and Atherton Street

Wednesday 20th July– Tower Street, Cathedral Street (North), High Street (North), Hope Street (North) and Eastern Street

Thursday 21st July – King Street East, Hope Street (South), and High Street (South)

The air scouring process involves short bursts of high pressure air and water through the water mains to remove and flush out any sediment, leaving the water mains clean. This requires isolation of sections of water mains and household water services. Each section will be isolated for a maximum of six (6) hours from approximately  9:00am to  3:00pm and during this time water supply will be disrupted.  Once  water is restored please turn on the closest tap to the water meter for a few minutes to release any air.  You may experience milkiness in the water once it is returned, however this is only air and will slowly evaporate.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by these necessary works and your cooperation and patience will be appreciated. Should you have a dog, would you please ensure that it is restrained in an area away from the Stop Valve so that safe access can be assured.

Should you wish to discuss any aspect of this matter further, please direct your enquiry to Council’s Customer Service on 1300 308 461.
