Council is inviting residents to have their say on the design concept for the redevelopment of Woodend Community Centre.
The redevelopment of the centre is one of Council’s key priorities in the Macedon Ranges Priority Projects 2022 Prospectus. The concept and schematic designs for the revitalised Woodend Community Centre have been jointly funded by Macedon Ranges Shire Council and Regional Development Victoria.
This project is the culmination of years of work by the Woodend Community & Cultural Centre Group who after surveying and consulting with various community groups put forward a draft plan to Council for its redevelopment.
Council then consulted with key stakeholders and user groups and surveyed Woodend residents to develop the draft masterplan for redevelopment of the centre. A public consultation process was conducted in early 2021 for community members to provide feedback on the draft masterplan and from which the design concepts were developed.
Council’s Director Planning and Environment, Rebecca Stockfeld said it was extremely important that community members were able to provide input into the design of the centre and what will be such an important space for the Woodend community.
“This facility will cater to a wide range of people and groups in Woodend and surrounds. It’s really important that we capture the needs and preferences of the community so we can ensure the redevelopment of the centre is fit for purpose and is a central hub all can utilise and enjoy for years to come,” she said.
The design concepts and survey will be available from on Monday 18 July until submissions close on Friday 29 July.
