The City of Fremantle and Business Events Perth are calling on exceptional professionals and leaders in their field to nominate for the 2022 THIS IS FREMANTLE Aspire Award.
The award provides a $5,000 scholarship to assist an individual’s personal and professional development through attendance at a business event or conference of their choice.
The scholarship covers travel, accommodation and registration expenses, and entry is open to anyone who lives or works in Fremantle.
Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said the Aspire Award offered a unique opportunity to represent Fremantle on the world stage.
“There is an incredible number of highly talented and qualified professionals that live and work in Fremantle, from nurses and doctors to marine industry specialists, creatives, journalists and academics,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.
“The Aspire Awards provide local experts with the opportunity to share knowledge, connect and collaborate with industry leaders at business events all over the globe, and also creates the opportunity for these events to be held in our city in future years.
“Hosting conferences in Fremantle builds our research strengths and profiles the city as a business tourism destination, as well as acting as a front door for trade and investment.”
The winner of the 2021 THIS IS FREMANTLE Aspire Award was Dr Garnett Hall - veterinary surgeon, owner of Fremantle Animal Hospital in Ellen Street and founder of local tech start-up VetChip.
Dr Hall intends to use the scholarship to attend the Singapore Vet Show, the largest annual veterinary conference in the Southern Hemisphere.
