Rise and shine for an early morning with Central Highlands Regional Council, Emerald parkrun, and a variety of local vendors for the Get Pet Active Expo 2022!
‘The inaugural pet expo encourages local residents to have a fun day out with their pets and be proactive about their wellbeing,’ says General Manager Communities John McDougall.
‘It’s about getting active with your pet, and getting active for your pet by registering and microchipping them in case they get lost.’
‘pets are members of our families and deserve a day out dedicated to how much they mean to us, but they also deserve their owners to be responsible.’
On Saturday 20 August 2022, animal lovers are invited to join the Emerald parkrun at 7.00 am on the eastern side of the Emerald Botanic Gardens near the McIndoe Park Function Centre.
Following the run, head over to the windmill entrance of the gardens for all the expo fun.
You can register your dog with council’s rangers team for the year, and get your dog or cat microchipped by Maraboon Vet Surgery.
Once the responsibilities are out of the way, celebrate the day with a free barbeque, fancy dress parade, and contest. There will also be face painting, prize giveaways, and market stalls.

Registering your dog in Queensland is the law. Exemptions apply for working dogs if they meet the criteria of the work dog assessment that can be found on our website.
