Residents are encouraged to have their say on a six-month trial for an e-scooter and e-bike hire scheme in Toowoomba.
With community engagement on the project now open, Toowoomba Regional Council Infrastructure Committee Portfolio Leader Cr Melissa Taylor has asked members of the public to bring forward any feedback they have by 12 August 2022.
“Around Queensland, E-scooters and other E-micromobility devices like E-bikes, are becoming popular as an affordable and environmentally friendly mode of transport. We want to gauge if they will be an appropriate transport for our community,” she said.
“Using the survey on Council’s Your Say page, we’re keen to hear from all members of the community and their views. This includes current users, potential users of the proposed hire scheme and those within the community with any concerns about the project for Council to take into consideration as the trial is developed.
“There are options for residents to contact the team if they’re not able to provide feedback via the website, including at pop-up information stands in the CBD over the coming weeks.
“Feedback will be used by Council to help shape the proposed E-micromobility trial.
“If there is interest from the community and potential suppliers are identified then we will consider a trial, possibly beginning at the end of this year.”
Consultation is now open and available until 12 August 2022.
The public can make comment via the YourSay website at https://yoursay.tr.qld.gov.au/e-devices-survey or by contacting Council on 131 872.
