TOWN OF COTTESLOE 2022/23 BUDGET ADOPTED

The Town of Cottesloe 2022/23 Budget was adopted by Council at the July Meeting held last night. The Budget has been adopted with inflationary pressures and commitment to the delivery of projects and services for the community in mind.

The 2022/23 Budget was prepared by the Town’s staff in collaboration with Council, with several budget workshops with Elected Members to ensure that Council was fully informed, and that direction could be provided to staff on the Draft Budget.

The Budget includes several big-ticket capital works projects including the East Cottesloe playground upgrade and Eric Street Shared Path, significant maintenance works such as repairs to Cottesloe Civic Centre and replacement of reticulation at Cottesloe Oval, ongoing upgrades to beach access paths and ACROD parking bays, continued focus on street tree planting, as well as the Town’s annual footpath, parks and road maintenance program and community grants program.

In addition to annual operational expenditure, the Budget includes a one-off operational project for the implementation of the Town’s new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. This new system will provide major efficiencies and improved service levels, as well as delivering cost reductions over time. The Budget also provides for essential strategic planning projects including the Local Planning Strategy and Planning Scheme Review and development of the Cottesloe Village Precinct Plan. It also provides for continued work on the Town’s Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaption Plan (CHRMAP).

Other high priority projects include the Cottesloe Foreshore Redevelopment and Skate Park at John Black Dune Park. The Town continues to seek external funding for these projects.

The Budget includes a 5% increase in rates for the 2022/23 financial year (inclusive of waste management charges). The increase will enable the Town to meet rising costs associated with its own works and projects, while maintaining services to our residents. The rates increase represents an average of approximately $150.00 per property.

Town of Cottesloe Mayor Lorraine Young said, “This Budget has been carefully considered in an environment of global and local cost pressures and enables the Town to continue to deliver projects and maintain the level of services that our community expects.
