Local residents looking to immerse themselves in a multicultural celebration of food and dance will revel in the return of Feast, on Saturday 17 September, from 2pm to 9pm.
For the first time in two years, Redfern Park in Minto will transform into a festive blend of sights, sounds and tastes from all over the world. Traditional food stalls, live performances, and cooking demonstrations will entice locals to immerse themselves in the cultures represented.
“Campbelltown is home to one of the most diverse and multicultural communities in South West Sydney,” said Mayor George Greiss.
“By coming together and celebrating these cultures at Feast, residents are able to explore the customs and delicious foods of our multicultural community, while connecting with their traditions,” Cr Greiss said.
Stage performances will take place throughout the event, giving attendees a glimpse into cultural dance and instruments. There will be instrumental demonstrations of didgeridoo, bagpipes, drumming, and live performances of Chinese Lion Dancing, the Haka, Latino dancing and more.
There’s children’s entertainment from 2pm to 5pm, with the Kid’s Activity Trail Passport, offering the chance to join dance and movement workshops, sushi-making courses, Aboriginal craft, origami lantern-making, drumming, and VR headset activities. Passports are available on the website, which can be completed and taken to Council’s Information Tent, for a chance to win one of five activity packs.
Food truck and stall owners looking to feature their delicious cuisine and desserts at the event are encouraged to apply on Council’s website by 4.30pm on Friday 5 August.
