Join us to celebrate two upgraded skate parks this September Published: 15 August 2022

Skate, scooter and BMX riders are in for a fun-filled September school holidays with exciting events taking place at two recently upgraded skate parks in Cardinia Shire!

Cochrane Park Skatepark, Koo Wee Rup

To start the school holidays with a bang, Council has partnered with the YMCA to deliver a skate, BMX and scooter competition from 2.30pm to 5pm on Friday 16 September.

There will also be a free BBQ and Aligned Leisure’s Street Team will be in attendance to offer a wide variety of activities on the afternoon!

Council is excited to celebrate the completion of significant upgrades to this popular skatepark with the community. Council engaged Grind Projects, who partnered with one of Australia’s best-known skate park designers Baseplate, to design and construct the skate park in Cochrane Park, Koo Wee Rup.

Gembrook Leisure Park, Gembrook

Council is hosting another skate competition, run by the YMCA, from 2.30pm to 5pm on Friday 30 September as well. The Gembrook Community Group will be hosting a BBQ and Council’s Youth Services team will be onsite with a range of giant games and activities!

The playground and skatepark upgrade was completed and officially opened in December 2019. However, due to weather events and the COVID-19 pandemic, the community opening event had been rescheduled a few times.

All are welcome to come along and check out the incredible skate facilities that are now ready to roll!
