The countdown is officially on! In four weeks’ time, we’ll be saying ‘hi’ to PHIVE and welcoming our community to their new destination for services and experiences in the heart of Parramatta Square.
From Thursday 22 September, the doors to our brand new library, visitor services and learning and discovery spaces will be open for the public to explore and enjoy.
This building has been many years in the making, so it’s incredibly exciting to see Council’s vision become a reality. I’m sure we all can’t wait to see it buzzing with locals and visitors, from day to night!
Over the next month, lots of teams across Council will be busily preparing PHIVE for its grand opening. Some key community services will be moving into PHIVE, with some changes already taking place. Importantly, PHIVE will be open extended hours, making it easier for our community to connect with library, customer and Council services.
Parramatta LibraryOur City branch library at Fitzwilliam Street is operating as a pop-up service and study space, until our new library at PHIVE opens on 22 September. Most books and resources have already been moved to their new home, which spans across Levels 1 and 2 of the building, with final preparations now underway.
Customer Contact CentrePHIVE will also be home to key Council services, with the community able to make enquiries and complete transactions with our PHIVE Customer Service team from 22 September. To ensure a smooth experience and transition for our community, the Customer Contact Centre’s front desk services on the ground floor of our Church Street office will continue to be available for the first few months after PHIVE opens. The Call Centre and other functions will continue to operate from Church Street as usual. In addition, PHIVE will have a new dedicated phone line at (1300 055 555) for enquiries specific to the new facility.
Heritage & Visitor Information CentreFrom 4pm Friday September 9, the Parramatta Heritage & Visitor Information Centre (located opposite Riverside Theatres) will close permanently. The Local Studies Research Library collection and equipment have been relocated to PHIVE. Visitor information is available on the AT Parramatta website, and can be accessed through information kiosks throughout Parramatta Square and from customer service team members at PHIVE.
Room bookings and venue hirePHIVE will offer a diverse range of meeting, programming and event spaces that will be available for hire by the public and Council staff. Council staff can secure meeting and event spaces from now, ahead of the booking system going live to the public at the end of August. If you want to hire a room or simply have an enquiry, email the team at [email protected]
Council MeetingsPHIVE will be the civic heart of our City and home to Council’s new chambers. Council meetings will move from St Patrick’s Cathedral to PHIVE from late October.
PHIVE Open House and School Holiday ProgramTo celebrate the opening and welcome the community to their new space, there will be an action-packed free Open House on Saturday September 24 and Sunday September 25, and a School Holiday program from September 26 to October 9. There’s a space for everyone at PHIVE – so please tell your friends and family to come along, we’d love to see them all there.
