The City of Wanneroo is inviting residents to provide their feedback on a proposed new bulk waste collection service.

The new service would see the City move away from the current scheduled verge-side bulk and green waste collections to a pre-booked service model in early 2024.

As well as meeting the State’s Waste Strategy and the Waste Authority’s Vergeside Better Practice guidelines, the new service aims a flexible and convenient service for residents to dispose of bulk waste.

City of Wanneroo Mayor Linda Aitken said the proposed change was the result of a thorough review of bulk waste services earlier this year.

“Instead of asking residents to place bulk and greens on their verges at set times each year, this proposed collection model would offer residents an opportunity to request a collection time that suits them,” Mayor Aitken said.

“As well as improved customer service, the proposed model would provide a safe, practical and environmentally sustainable collection program that has the potential to further reduce waste going to landfill.

“Council is actively working towards becoming a leading local government in waste management and we are excited to hear what our community thinks of this proposed service.”

The community can have their say on the proposed new bulk waste collection service until 7 October 2022.
