This week we welcomed the newest Australian citizens from across the globe who have found their way to the Moree Plains Shire, in an official ceremony held in the Council Chambers.
Mayor, Councillor Mark Johnson proudly conducted the ceremony which officially recognised ten new residents who have made the commitment to their newly adopted country and to the Australian values.
“People of all backgrounds and religions strengthen our country and especially our community and we hope that you continue to stay in the Moree Plains and call this place your home” said Mayor Mark Johnson.
Our own Council team member, Fiona Kennedy, who has called Australia home for the past ten years was finally able to be nationalised, remarking that this final milestone of becoming a citizen of this great country is a great honour.
Acting General Mayor Nick Tobin and the Mayor presented the conferees with Australian flags and a native tree as symbols of new beginnings, new experiences and for a prosperous, happy and fruitful life in Australia.
