Tawonga draft plans on public exhibition
Alpine Shire 12 Sep 2022

The exciting Alpine Better Places Tawonga project has reached detailed design stage, after five community meetings and a survey which attracted 280 responses.

Alpine Shire Mayor Sarah Nicholas said the Tawonga community has embraced the opportunity to be involved in planning for the future of their town.

“We have seen a fantastic response from residents, who are passionate about their town and open spaces,” she said.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to date by completing the survey, submitting feedback or attending one of the community meetings - we appreciate your time, and your views.

“You are helping to shape the future of Tawonga.”

The draft concept plans are available for a last round of community feedback, before the final design is adopted by Council at a future Council Meeting.

The adopted plans will be used to seek funding to deliver the works in the future.

Cr Nicholas encouraged anyone with an interest in the project to have their say by viewing the plans and completing a short survey.

“We have been through a comprehensive and rewarding engagement process to get to this point,” she said.

“The number of surveys we receive will be compared to the total population figures of Tawonga.

“We will assume that anyone who does not share their concerns is supportive of the designs.”

Hard copies of the survey will be distributed to homes in Tawonga. Residents can complete the survey online OR complete the hard copy and drop it back to the Old Tawonga Store, Mount Beauty Library or Council’s Bright Office before the closing date.

The survey will close on Wednesday, 19 October 2022. Feedback will be collated and used to inform the final designs.
