One month on from the 5 August floods

12/09/22

Since the 5 August floods, which caused widespread damage across Yass Valley, Council has been busy inspecting every road across its network and recording damage.

Council’s Roads Delivery Team has been working as quickly as possible to repair roads that were severely damaged during the flood event on 5 August as well as the accumulated damage from the continued wet period.

Council’s priority remains the maintenance of a safe road network; however, the persistent rain continues to make maintenance of both the sealed and unsealed road network difficult.

Staff will continue to repair potholes and minor works when weather permits.

An application for emergency funding has been submitted to Resilience NSW, however, no declaration has been made.

As soon as a decision on the declaration has been made and additional funding is made available, Council will engage contractors to expedite the repair works.

At the moment, we cannot provide commencement and completion dates for any repair works.

We apologise for the inconvenience these delays are causing and thank you for your understanding.
