New Aussies to be welcomed at this Australian Citizenship Day Celebration

15 September, 2022

Lithgow City Council will welcome seven new citizens at an Australian citizenship ceremony on Friday 16 September 2022, as part of Australian Citizenship Day celebrations.

The conferees from three countries, including India, Canada, and the United States, will become Australian citizens as part of a ceremony at Eskbank House Museum.

Councillor Maree Statham, Mayor of Lithgow City Council said the ceremony is one of hundreds of ceremonies taking place across Australia that will see thousands of people officially become new citizens on or around Australian Citizenship Day.

“Australian Citizenship Day is an opportunity for all Australians in their community, whether by birth or by choice, to reflect on and celebrate what’s great about being Australian,” Mayor Statham said.

Australian Citizenship Day provides an occasion for everybody to reflect on the contributions of citizens to our local communities.

“I encourage everyone to reflect on and affirm their own Australian citizenship today and warmly welcome our newest citizens.”
