Permanent flying of the Aboriginal flag
The Aboriginal flag will continue to be flown alongside the National flag, outside Yass Soldiers’ Memorial Hall, while further community consultation takes place.
Scores on Doors Program
Councillors adopted the Scores on Doors program to enable food businesses to promote compliance with hygiene and food safety standards, promote consumer trust in food businesses, and further the reputation and economy of food businesses in Yass Valley. It is voluntary for food businesses to display their results.
Stronger Country Community Fund
Councillors endorsed the following projects as priority projects for application in Round 5 of the Stronger Country Communities Fund:
Yass Community Centre Upgrade - $250k Wee Jasper Park and playground upgrade - $200k Yass Skate and Dog Parks upgrade - $500k Murrumbateman storage shed and access roads - $150k Murrumbateman main field irrigation and supporting infrastructure - $150KDamage to Murrumbateman Road
Councillors approved for the General Manager to appoint a contractor to undertake repairs on the section of Murrumbateman Road damaged during the 5 August storm event. The General Manager can approve up to $500,000 before being required to bring a tender back to Council for approval. The contractor will replace the missing pipes and headwall on the failed section as part of the recovery works from the storm event.
