Peter Crisp OAM presents first STA Box Gallery exhibition at Yass Valley Library Yass Valley Council, in partnership with Southern Tablelands Arts (STA), is proud to unveil a new exhibition space for regional artists to showcase their work at Yass Valley Library.

Renowned glass sculptor and proud Yass Valley resident, Peter Crisp OAM, is the first artist to exhibit in the STA Box Gallery.

Next phase of work steaming ahead for Barton Highway The duplication of the Barton Highway is forging ahead with the focus now turning to construction of several intersections along a seven-kilometre stretch as part of Stage 1.

The Australian Government has committed $150 million towards both stages, while the New South Wales Government has funded $50 million for the Barton Highway Upgrade.

Works update:

Murrumbateman Winery Trail Stage One is almost done, with some line marking, signage and safety works to be completed over the next couple of months. A grand opening is in the works for next year. Shingle Hill Way bridge replacement is progressing well. The contractors are continuing with bulk earthworks and culvert upgrades on the ground. The bridge deck has now been poured and is really taking shape. We are hoping to have the bridge operational before the end of the year. Bango Bridge replacement detailed design work has been approved; on-site work is due to commence in early 2023. The safety improvement work on Mulligans Flat Road is now complete. Back Creek Road - finalisation of the environmental report and detailed design are now underway. Council has received three grants for the Bridge Renewal Grant Program to replace four low-level crossings on Nanima Road, Back Creek Road and Greenwood Road (2). Preliminary investigations have commenced on all projects, with a timeline for replacement ready later in the year. A request for tender for the first of the Bridge Renewal Grant bridges, Jeir Creek Bridge on Nanima Road, is now live and can be viewed here: https://www.yassvalley.nsw.gov.au/our-council/tenders-quotes-and-eois/article/1657 D&N Geotechnical will be undertaking geotechnical testing on both Yass River and Murrumbateman Creek Bridges on Greenwood Road from Monday. This is one of the preliminary studies required for the bridge replacements under the Bridges Renewal grant we received recently. There will be a stop/slow arrangement on Monday and speed reduction enforcement for the whole week at both bridges.

Back Creed Road Upgrade Stage One Closing date: 9:00 am Friday, 30 September Council intends to rehabilitate Back Creek Road between Sutton Road and CH5200 to improve the road surface, improve the serviceability of the road, and improve safety.
