Changes to agenda for upcoming council meeting

Amendments have been made to the recommendations contained in the Report Under Section 35F of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 on Representations Received by the Planning Authority Following Exhibition of the Draft Huon Valley Local Provisions Schedule (LPS-HUO-TPS).

We have received questions from some community members about our Election and Caretaker Period Policy with respect to consideration at tonight’s council meeting of the Section 35F report on Representations Received by the Planning Authority Following Exhibition of the Draft Huon Valley Local Provisions Schedule.

Section 3.2.2. of the caretaker policy states: Notwithstanding the Policy Statement the Council may make a Major Policy Decision during the Election and Caretaker Period: • Where the decision is required to be made to comply with legislation or the requirements of a statutory authority.

With respect to council’s consideration of the Section 35F report, this is a statutory requirement of council to consider under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 and the Tasmanian Planning Commission.
