Carnarvon highway closed

Access on the Carnarvon Highway at the Byra causeway had only accessible to 4WD and trucks, with the causeway reading at 0.2m this morning and rising, Council has made the decision to close the Carnarvon Highway for 24-48 hours depending on additional rainfall and the conditions of the road.   Alternative access can be made via   ✅ MR232 Boonangar Road (Boomi to Garah) with caution.  (Council has undertaken temporary repairs to washouts)

✅ MR 232 Boonangar Road between Boomi and the QLD Border is open with extreme caution with 250mm of water of the road.

✅ via Boggabilla and down Carrigan Road
