The commencement of the fourth school term provides an opportunity to remind drivers to slow down and take care around school zones.
With Term 4 of the school year now underway, designated school zones are back in operation.
Parking restrictions apply in school zones to help keep children safe. They protect sight distances, provide safe pick up and drop off opportunities and minimise confusion where children are crossing roads. Be especially vigilant when picking up, dropping off or passing by school zones.
Council Rangers and local Police patrol school zones to enforce parking restrictions and illegal road user behaviour. Fines and loss of demerit points can apply.
For further information on school zone safety please visit Transport for NSW – Centre for Road Safety or phone the RMS on 13 22 13.
