Upper Hunter Shire Council is inviting artists to submit a design idea for a public mural at 133 Kelly Street, Scone.
Once the well-known Niagara Cafe, 133 Kelly Street is now a throughway and amenities area with several walls suitable for the public mural.
Upper Hunter Shire Council Mayor Maurice Collison said Council is hoping to see a range of creative designs with the potential to elevate the area.
"We're looking for design ideas that are creative, insightful and unique to the area," Cr Collison said.
"Something with an innovative and engaging approach that speaks to a theme that fits the region.
"The desired design idea will ultimately hold the potential to make this space a special attraction for visitors and locals alike."
Artists considering making a submission are invited to attend an optional site visit on Wednesday, October 26 at 11.30am.
Cr Collison said a design fee will be paid to the shortlisted artists.
"Once we receive and review the submissions, up to three artists will be shortlisted," he said.
"These artists will then be paid a design fee of $500 to allow them to create a more detailed proposal.
"We look forward to seeing this project progress and reviewing the design ideas submitted by the talented artists throughout the region."
Expressions of Interest must be submitted by 2pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.
This project is a joint initiative between Upper Hunter Shire Council and Arts Upper Hunter.
