MODERATE FLOODING MAY DEVELOP AT BELOW WILMOT FRIDAY MORNING

[Locations likely to be impacted are: Kindred, Paloona, Forth, Forthside, Turners Beach, Leith and surrounds.]
Widespread rainfall totals of 30-80 mm have been recorded in 12 hours to 7.00am Thursday across the Forth River catchment. Further widespread rainfall totals of 70-120 mm are likely across the northern half of Tasmania with isolated totals up to 200 mm over higher terrain during Thursday and into Friday morning.
River level rises are occurring throughout the Forth River catchment during Thursday morning in response to overnight rainfall. Minor flooding is likely at Below Wilmot overnight Thursday into Friday and moderate flooding may develop Friday morning. With higher scenarios of forecast rainfall, additional river rises are possible.
A severe weather warning is current for heavy, locally intense rainfall to continue over northern Tasmania during Thursday.
Forth River above Paloona Dam:
Significant river level rises are occurring in the Forth River above Paloona Dam during Thursday morning. Further rises are likely with forecast rainfall.
Wilmot River:
River level rises are occurring in the Wilmot River during Thursday morning. Further rises are likely with forecast rainfall.
Lower Forth River below Paloona Dam:
Moderate flooding may occur along the Lower Forth River below Paloona Dam, based on forecast rainfall.
The Forth River below Wilmot is currently at 2.69 metres and steady. The Forth River below Wilmot is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.50 m) overnight Thursday into Friday. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (5.10 m) Friday morning. Additional rises are possible.
