Golden Guitar nominee Bec Hance to perform in Merriwa

Next Saturday, October 22, two time Golden Guitar Nominee Bec Hance will perform in Merriwa for the Settlement Hall Crawl event.

With multiple independent singer and song writing awards to her name and a passion for authentic, Australian country music, Bec sure knows how to entertain a country community.

“I’ve always been around music and also grew up in that country life style on a big farm,” explained Bec.

“Now days I get to travel Australia performing with my husband..I love going to different parts of Australia and singing about stuff that’s a little bit quirky and related to everyday Australian life.”

Bec always loved country music but didn’t always see herself pursuing a career in the industry.

“I was always around country music, Dad showed me country music and would play his vinyls of Slim Dusty and the likes,” she said.

“I’ve been playing piano since I was ten and dabbling in writing tunes.

“Mum got me singing lessons when I was in my twenties and my singing teacher encouraged me to pursue it a bit more and that’s how I started in the industry.”

Despite her success and experience performing all around Australia, Bec’s favourite gigs are the ones that feel a little more personal, a little closer to home.

“I play at Australian traditional festivals, outback festivals as well as doing local community gigs and anything that will suit my vibe, folk festival, camp drafts and those things,” she said.

“But my favourite gigs are really sitting around the camp fire and singing my own songs to people who appreciate the music.

“Yeah that’s my thing, that’s how I grew up and that…they relate to the music and the lyrics and all. “

Bec can’t wait to head out to Merriwa and perform her unique style of Country of Music for the township.

“Yeah for sure, I’m really excited,” she said.

“I love smaller gigs for that connection you get with people so I’m looking forward to it.”
