EDWARD RIVER AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS ARE NOW OPEN
Edward River residents are encouraged to nominate their local heroes, with nominations now open for the 2023 Australia Day Awards. The Edward River Council Australia Day Awards celebrate the
achievements and contributions of individuals and community organisations in our region.
“Our Australia Day Awards are the highest honour Council can bestow to publicly acknowledge the many local heroes within our community, whose dedication and contributions may otherwise go unnoticed,” said Mayor Cr Peta Betts.
In 2023, Council will recognise the outstanding contributions from local community members and organisations in seven categories, being Citizen of the Year, Sport Award, Junior Sport Award, Arts
& Culture Award, Junior Arts & Culture Award, Community Event or Initiative of the Year and Environmental Citizen of the Year (the Bill & Elwyn Hermiston Memorial Award).
Award recipients are determined by Council’s Australia Day Awards Assessment Panel, with recipients announced at Council’s Australia Day celebrations, held annually on 26 January. Recipients will be
presented with an Australia Day gift and certificate by the Mayor.
Completed nominations should be returned to Edward River Council by close of business Friday, 25 November 2022.
Nomination forms can be downloaded and are also available from the Customer Service Team located in The Estates Building, 180 Cressy Street, Deniliquin and the Library.
