The City of Wanneroo is seeking donations of toys and non-perishable food to help locals doing it tough this Christmas.

The Mayor’s Christmas Appeal has helped hundreds of local people, thanks to the generosity of residents who dig deep every year to help their fellow community members.

Mayor Linda Aitken said she encouraged people to donate items if they had the means.

“I am always in awe of our hard-working and caring community who want to help people less fortunate than themselves,” she said.

“It’s a true show of Christmas spirit to go above and beyond to bring cheer to local families doing it tough.”

Donations will be distributed by the following charities and community groups:

No Limits Perth The Pantry WA Uniting WA Rainbow Church Australia Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Pat Giles Centre The Salvation Army Vinnies WA

To help a local family this Christmas, donations can be placed in one of the appeal bins located at the City’s Civic Centre from Monday 31 October.

Some 50 local schools and organisations will also be collecting donations for the appeal, which finishes on Monday 28 November.
