Greater Shepparton City Council and representatives from emergency services will be conducting a community update at 6pm Monday 24 October 2022 at Murchison Community Centre.
Community members can attend in person; this update will not be livestreamed online. This update will mainly focus on the Murchison area.
A significant amount of water is still sitting in the Lenne Street, Moooroopna area. We are aware of the issue and have escalated the issue with an additional pump installed to pump the water away as quickly as possible. This has required the closure of Toolamba Road from McLennan Street down to Pyke Road.
Greater Shepparton City Council would like to advise the community that the Council offices are still closed to the public as Council resources are being diverted to flood management.
The Customer Service Call Centre is open for phone enquiries from 8:15am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Council is working with Emergency Services to monitor and respond to the current flood impacts.
The following Council services/facilities are currently closed:
Shepparton Saleyards: Closed Aquamoves: Closed Animal Management Services: Council staff are currently providing a buisiness hours only service. After-hours requests will be Animal Shelter: Closed to the public except by appointment. Call (03) 5832 9700 Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 5pm. Children’s Services facilities: (including Maternal Child Health, Playgroups, Daycare and Kindergarten. Maternal Child Health services will resume face-to-face from this morning (Monday 24 October) onwards. All other Children's Services facilities: ClosedCouncil-owned buildings must complete an insurance assessment before they can be used by community/user groups. We anticipate this will be done early next week. It is important that no one enter the facilities until they have been inspected for electrical and building safety (including confirming presence of asbestos). Council's Building Maintenance team will organise this, and notify user groups once safe to enter the property.
Rubbish collection / disposal / clean-upPlease visit our Rubbish Disposal Update page for updated details about Council's rubbish/waste disposal service, including Council's limited kerbside household flood waste collection from naturestrips, kerbside bin collection, Resource Recovery Centre opening times, and the Cosgrove Landfill.
Food ReliefShepparton Family and Financial Services are open from 10am to 2pm from Sunday 23 October, for collection of food relief packs for those affected by the floods. Delivery is available if required. Phone 5831 7755. For urgent flood water deliveries, please call the SES on 132 500.
GV Cares and Shepparton Foodshare are resuming delivery from 9am this morning (Monday 24 October).
Travel / Public transportPlease do not travel if you don’t need to. Victorians are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel with hundreds of roads damaged or closed due to flooding. All major road closures are listed at traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au.
BusesJacobsons Bus Lines has a local bus route operating between Mooroopna and Shepparton. This route operates from Cnr McLennan and Northgate Streets, Mooroopna, to Harris Scarf, Kmart Shepparton and return to Mooroopna on the hour. (10 round trips daily, between 8:40am and 5:50pm.)

Balfours Airport Direct has resumed their airport shuttle service from Mooroopna/Shepparton, Murchison East, Nagambie, Seymour to Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport twice a day, 7 days a week.
V-LineV-Line are operating rail replacement bus services between Shepparton and Melbourne. Please see the timetables below.
Emergency Relief CentresThere are emergency relief centres that are open either side of the Shepparton-Mooroopna Causeway. Please register when you attend when you arrive. Visit our Flood: Respond page for current relief centre locations and advice on what to take with you.
Road closuresCouncil is currently monitoring water levels and access to road ways. Please check our Road Closures post for key roads that have been closed due to flooding.

Flood levelsGoulburn River at Shepparton peaked at 12.06 meters at 11am on Monday 17 October, (1974 flood level: 12.09 meters). As at 8.13 AM on Monday 24 October, the level is at 10.51 meters (minor).
