Step forward for future of Neerabup Industrial Area

The plan outlines the proposed development of Lot 9100, the City’s 16.3ha landholding at the NIA, recommending subdivision and sale of the site for industrial use.

Wanneroo Mayor Linda Aitken said the plan is an exciting step towards realising the NIA’s potential to provide economic benefits for the region through job creation and business opportunities.

“With the potential to provide regional economic advantages as well as a long-term revenue stream for the City, Neerabup is set to reap significant benefits for our growing community,” Mayor Aitken said.

“This latest step signals the beginning of a great future for industry at Neerabup, and supports local jobs for local people. I encourage residents and businesses in the area to get involved in this exciting early stage by looking at the plan and providing feedback. It is a really exciting time for Wanneroo, and I look forward to this new beginning for the City.”

On completion, the NIA will be one of the biggest industrial estates in Perth, generating between 20,000 and 30,000 new jobs – a significant contribution towards employment self-sufficiency in the region.

It is now home to the world-leading Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP), a major hub for testing and research into the latest developments in automation, remote operation and robotic systems, backed by a $20 million State Government commitment.

The City is also currently investigating a Waste Precinct that will be focused on waste minimisation through the co-location of waste processing to contribute toward a circular economy.

The development of the NIA is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to support the local economy, employment and business growth.
