Hop, skip or jump your way down to your local park and have a go at some of the new interactive activities on offer with your little one.
Brought to you by council’s libraries and the First 5 Forever program, new interactive stickers and corflutes have been rolled out at parks across the region to encourage parents and children aged 0-5 to play and learn together through words, numbers, nursery rhymes and directional print.
Manager Connected Communities Suzanne Poulter said the First 5 Forever program has significantly benefitted families around the region over the past 8 years.
‘With the funding from First 5 Forever, our libraries staff have been able to implement programming that encourages mental and physical development in our little ones,’ she said.
‘And with these new park installments, families can enjoy the fun of First 5 Forever outside of the library and in their own time,’ she said.
There are 10 identical interactive concrete stickers and 6 sets of 4 nursery rhyme corflutes being installed across the Central Highlands.
The First 5 Forever initiative, led by the Queensland Government, is delivered to young families in partnership with public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres across the state. It not only provides families with the opportunity to take their children to a safe location to listen to stories, socialise and take part in fun activities, it also provides them with the resources to extend their knowledge through library programs.
