The Roles:

Heavy Diesel Fitter/Operator: As a Heavy Diesel Fitter/Operator you will be a fully qualified tradesperson and plant operator who will be required to service, maintain and repair all heavy plant and equipment, light vehicles, small plant or other assets owned and operated by Council.

What we are looking for:

You will need to operate and maintain Council’s heavy machinery and, in particular, the low loader used to transport plant and equipment to and from the workshop and Council depots. Required to work anywhere within the Shire, including callouts and work which may require an overnight stay in Council-provided accommodation or camp environments.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills (Mandatory for the position)  

Engineering (Mechanical – Heavy Diesel Fitter) Trade Qualification Construction Industry Blue Card or National equivalent White Card High Risk Work Licence for Forklift Current Queensland HR/HC Class driver’s licence Experience in the service, maintenance and repair of a broad range of plant and equipment including earthmoving machinery, trucks, light vehicles and small engine equipment.

Holding an MC driver’s Licence or operator tickets for backhoe, grader, roller and loader will be highly regarded.

The role is physically demanding and requires you to be physically fit and will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical assessment

Heavy Diesel Fitter:

The Heavy Diesel Fitter is responsible for delivering a high level of support in the servicing, maintenance and repair of all machinery, plant and equipment and other Council owned assets, as required.

What we are looking for:

You will have high level trade skills and knowledge in the service, maintenance and repair of Council’s plant and equipment. This includes earthmoving machinery, trucks, light vehicles and small engine equipment. Required to work anywhere within the Shire, including callouts and work which may require an overnight stay in Council-provided accommodation or camp environments. You will work well in a team environment. You will have basic knowledge of computer applications
