Central Highlands Regional Council is excited to announce its annual ‘Light Up CH’ holiday decorating contest for 2022.
Starting today, residents and businesses around the Central Highlands can register to have their lights display judged. Registrants with a photo of their display can also enter to win the People’s Choice Award. Judging will take place between 6 to 8 December with the People’s Choice Awards voting between 12 and 18 December via Have Your Say.
‘This competition is always a wonderful way of seeing our region come together in the holiday spirit,’ said Mayor Kerry Hayes.
‘And the stakes seem to get higher and higher every year! This year, Ergon has donated $350 to the winning business entry.’
The first-place prize of $250 and a second-place prize of $100 will be selected in each of the following categories:
North (Capella, Tieri)East (Blackwater, Dingo, Duaringa, Bluff, Bauhinia)South (Rolleston, Springsure, Arcadia Valley)West/Central (Emerald, Comet, Gemfields, Gindie)There will also be overall prizes in the following categories with over $1000 to be distributed:

Entries are now open until Sunday, 4 December. Voting for the People’s choice award will open Monday, 12 December and close Sunday, 18 December.
Council reminds residents to be safety conscious when setting up and pulling down lights and to ensure all electrical equipment is in good working order.
