The Riverlinks All Abilities Playground is a step closer to completion after the guiding concept designs were endorsed last week.
Some 83 per cent of community consultation responders supported the Clarkson playground project, aimed to be an inclusive space where children of all ages and all abilities can visit.
The consultation included engaging the City’s Disability Access and Inclusion Reference Group and the project will now progress to a detailed design phase.
The project has been made possible by a $2.6 million State Government contribution.
Mayor Linda Aitken said she thanked the community for their involvement in the community consultation.
“All abilities play spaces are accessible to everyone, including children with mobility issues and those with cognitive, sensory or social-emotional challenges,” she said.
“Providing City of Wanneroo families with this space helps connect our community and encourages healthy, active and social family activities.”
State Member for Burns Beach Mark Folkard said it was a pleasure to be working with the City of Wanneroo to deliver quality projects for the community.
“This play space will be fantastic for the community, allowing children of all ages and abilities to enjoy a new outdoor space that facilitates quality interactive entertainment and encourages connecting with others,” he said.
