Cardinia Shire Council is set to commence works to redevelop the BMX track at the Upper Beaconsfield Recreation Reserve in November.
Following two rounds of community consultation, Council reviewed and revised the proposed design to include the feedback and ideas from the local community, the reserve Committee of Management, and landowner Department of Environment, Land and Water (DELWP).
The upgraded BMX track will include:
two key starting platforms accessed from the carpark asphalt pump track and upgrade of the existing dirt track resting and viewing platforms jumps and features suitable for all ages and skill levels.Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Tammy Radford said Council is committed to creating excellent sporting and recreation facilities so all residents can enjoy the benefits of exercise.
Beacon Hills Ward Councillor Brett Owen is looking forward to the BMX track upgrade: “We recognise the importance of facilities like these, especially for the younger members of our community.
“The current Upper Beaconsfield BMX track is regularly used and enjoyed by locals. We hope that these upgrades will encourage more bike riders from the local community and surrounding townships to get out and have a ride.”
The existing track will be closed during construction and updates will be posted on the project’s Creating Cardinia engagement webpage: www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay
This project is fully funded by Council and works are expected to be completed before the end of the year, conditions permitting.
