Wild dog trapping workshops coming to Springsure and Duaringa by Ecosure

Posted on November 14, 2022

Council, along with Fitzroy Basin Association, Capricorn Pest Management Group and the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program, are proudly supporting two, two-day workshops on wild dog trapping by Ecosure.

The first workshop will be held at the Bauhinia Memorial Hall in Springsure on Wednesday 14 December, and Thursday 15 December starting at 8.00 am.

The second workshop will be held in Duaringa, with dates to be determined.

‘Wild dogs pose a perpetual problem for our agricultural sector and any methodology that reduces and manages the number of animals is welcomed,’ said Mayor Kerry Hayes.

‘These workshops will be important in teaching those affected how to safely and humanely trap wild dogs that are preying on livestock.’

The workshops will be hosted by Senior NRM Project Management Officer Tony Townsend, who has over 25 years of experience in pest management, specialising in wild dogs. He has worked as a professional trapper throughout NSW, QLD and SA and presented and trained landowners, local/state government, NRM groups and industry groups on wild dog control methods and monitoring techniques.

Workshops are free for up to 12 participants. To register, please contact council on 1300 242 686 and request to speak to the Rural Land Officer.
