Think you know the best farmer? Want a way to say thanks?
National Farmer’s Federation is once again running National Agriculture Day this coming Friday, 18 November 2022.
‘AgDay is an annual celebration for Australia’s farmers, whose crucial dedication and contribution keep our community and the whole of Australia fuelled with the supply of food and fibre,’ said Mayor Kerry Hayes.
National AgDay, now in its fifth consecutive year, helps to raise awareness of the contribution the agriculture industry has in Australia.
‘After the success of last year, we are again celebrating by asking residents to help us recognise local farmers across our region,’ Mayor Hayes continued.
‘From cattle, citrus and cotton, to grapes, macadamias and melons, agriculture is the beating heart of the Highlands and the people behind it all deserve a pat on the back.
‘Register a farmer on our website today and they will receive a signed card from myself, on behalf of the whole Central Highlands community. All registered farmers will also be entered into the draw to win a hamper full of local produce.’

The Central Highlands region is one of the state’s key agricultural producers, generating more than $890 million per annum in economic value. Extensive beef production and broadacre cropping (cereal and pulses) are the key drivers of value. The region is also an important cotton producer and boasts thriving citrus and table grape sectors. Niche and emerging crops include macadamias, lychees, figs and peanuts.
