Skip transfer station trial_Glenden Waste Management Facility

Please be advised that Council will begin a trial of the use of transfer skips at Glenden Waste Management Facility from:

Monday, 5 December 2022

This trial is being conducted to gather the necessary information to plan for the conversion of the landfill part of the site to a transfer station facility, which will occur on or before 30 June 2024.

As of, Monday, 5 December, residents and small commercial vehicles will no longer be required to tip waste directly into the landfill.  Instead, a 15m3 skip will be placed near the gatehouse for use by small vehicles.  Residents will deposit all general household waste into the skip.  Recyclable waste, including domestic recyclables, scrap metal, green waste tyres, batteries etc, will continue to be deposited in their usual locations.

Residents who have difficulty dropping waste into the skip should ask the site staff for assistance.  Should it not be possible to deposit the items into the skip, alternative arrangements will be made.

In the unlikely event that the skip becomes too full to fit more waste in, alternative arrangements will be made.

The trial will continue for at least two months.

There will be no change to disposal arrangements for large commercial vehicles until June 2024.
