Freo amped up for High Voltage

The City of Fremantle is excited by today’s announcement (Sunday 27 November 2022) that Freo will be hosting the massive music event High Voltage in May next year.

Based on the epic Perth Festival finale Highway to Hell in 2020, High Voltage will be an outdoor concert procession through the streets of Fremantle.

The show, presented by Tourism WA and produced by Perth Festival Special Projects, will see talented rockers performing on the back of flatbed trucks as they’re driven between festival zones at Fremantle Oval, Esplanade Reserve and Wilson Park at South Beach.

Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said event the promised to be an unforgettable day in Freo.

“We all remember what an awesome time we had at Highway to Hell in 2020, so we can’t wait to recreate that experience with High Voltage next year,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.

“We’re thrilled that Tourism WA and Perth Festival Special Projects has chosen to stage this event in Freo.

“As the spiritual home of live music in Perth, it’s the perfect fit to present this giant celebration of WA music in our city.

“It also recognises Fremantle’s status as an important tourism destination. Accommodation in Freo for the weekend is likely book out, so I’d advise people to get in early to avoid disappointment.

“Each of the three festival zones will offer a unique experience for everyone, from families and kids right through to die-hard rock music fans.

“It’ll be the perfect opportunity for people to explore the city and have a blast in Freo.”

 High Voltage will be staged on Sunday 7 May 2023. More details on the performers and route will be released closer to the event.
