Discussions around Cross-Border Co-ordination between Moree and Goondiwindi Councils

Mayor Johnson and General Manager, Nick Tobin met with the Mayor the Hon. Councillor Lawrence Springborg, AM and CEO, Carl Manton from Goondiwindi Regional Council to discuss cross-border co-ordination between Councils.

Topics spoken about were a joint agreement around co-ordination with regard to waste, policing, cross-border crime prevention and legislative controls with the higher vision of trying to create a singular jurisdiction between border communities.

Forging this relationship will also aid with localised flooding and evacuation orders for residents in Boggabilla and Toomelah.

Representatives from both Council’s will informally meet every 6 months.
