Thousands of local residents and community members took to the oval at Toomuc Recreation Reserve on Saturday for this year's Pakenham Carols by Candlelight.
The gates of the reserve opened on Saturday afternoon for the return of the much-loved carols event, which was attended by over 4,500 people! Families were able to secure the perfect picnic spot and enjoy a range of pre-carols activities provided by the local Netball club, the crew from Aligned Leisure, and Council’s Youth Services team. Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Tammy Radford opened the official program, wishing everyone a wonderful evening and a happy and safe festive season. For the first time, this year’s event was livestreamed to ensure that even more of Cardinia Shire's residents were able to enjoy the show.
As the evening progressed, the crowd heard the musical talents of several local primary schools, the Cardinia Civic Concert Band, and a range of other local performers and choirs.
Visitors to the event also enjoyed a special visit from Santa himself, who arrived just in time to see the spectacular fireworks display.
The return of this much-anticipated annual event was made possible with the generous support of local businesses, community groups and volunteers.
