Wanneroo Council has adopted the Place Strategy 2023 – 2027, which sets out the strategic direction, high level vision and objectives of the City’s approach to creating great places for our community.

The Strategy builds on the work carried out as part of the 2018 Place Framework, which provided initial direction on how places will be developed, managed and activated.

This work included preparing and implementing Local Area Plans for three priority areas – Yanchep/Two Rocks, Wanneroo and Girrawheen/Koondoola – supporting community-led initiatives, and funding and working with established and developing Town Teams.

Mayor Linda Aitken said the Place Strategy was key to providing direction on how we plan and deliver great places.

“Our community has told us they want vibrant, distinctive and activated places,” she said.

“This Strategy will help guide how we collaborate with local people to create accessible and dynamic town centres and neighbourhoods in the City of Wanneroo.”

Town Team Movement Co-Founder and Executive Director Jimmy Murphy said he welcomed the adoption of the new strategy.

“It is fantastic to see the City of Wanneroo taking bold steps to enable their community to step up and play a greater role in the continual improvement of their towns and neighbourhoods,” he said.
