Alpine Shire Mayor John Forsyth said this is a new approach that puts the community at the forefront of how Council budgets.
“We have been increasing our commitment to engaging with our communities, and it makes sense that we connect with our communities around the budgeting process as early as we can,” he said.
“In the past we have encouraged the public to share their views on a draft budget - this year we need their help to shape our budget before the draft stage.
“This will ensure successful proposals are identified and incorporated into the budget early, and the community’s voice is heard during the preparation of this important document.
“We’re looking forward to seeing some fantastic proposals come in - we have some passionate community members out there with great ideas!”
Community members are invited to connect with Councillors and staff face-to-face at Community Pop-Ups in January and February to discuss their ideas.
Cr Forsyth said submissions can be completed via an online platform, and support is available.
“We encourage anyone wishing to make a submission to gather as much information as possible about their project, possible costs and its alignment with the Alpine Shire Council Vision and Council Plan,” he said.
“Key strategies and themes in the Council Plan should guide you on what Council is seeking to deliver for the community.
“The stronger the link between the Council Plan and your project, the better the chance that it will be adopted.”
